Re: What are the key steps needed for moving to a new cart?

I switched to BC from ISC. BC doesn't even let you import reviews which is a shame. I used the export feature in ISC and then imported it to BC. I then had to re-create all the options in BC as those didn't import. BC has the worst UI for options by the way. Not very user friendly. Other than those ...

Re: Cart solution shortlist

I've also been thinking about switching carts for a couple years. I would shorten your list to Lemonstand, CS-Cart, and Magento. Lemonstand looks promising but it's very new so I am giving it time to mature. I ended up biting the bullet and went with bigcommerce. Mostly the problem I have with the a...

Re: image url is BC url

yeah, i noticed that too. My image name is still in the file name so I guess it's not too big of a deal. I have to take back part of what I said, clicking on the image in a google search does bring you to the correct website, not bigcommerce. Still, if I use my own domain, I expect images to be usin...

image url is BC url

Just noticed something horrible with bigcommerce. Even though you use your own domain name, BC serves up images using their own URL. This is really bad for SEO and image searches. If someone does a google image search and finds and clicks on your image, it'll take them to bigcommerce's site. Just aw...

Re: CS-Cart, ISC, Magento or cocktail under palm tree?

I was on ISC 6.1.1. I ended up just using the built in export feature then importing to BC. It worked better than cart2cart. What's really dumb is you can export orders in ISC and BC but cannot import them. That means it's easier to move from ISC to almost any other cart than to BC if you want to re...

Re: CS-Cart, ISC, Magento or cocktail under palm tree?

I tried cart2cart and it didn't work too well. It basically created a products.csv and a customers.csv then had instructions on how to import them to BC. After the import, I noticed several issues: Around 20 products are missing, they didn't import and I'm not sure which ones yet. The main product i...

Re: Place Bigcommerce store in Sub-Folder

Actually, it looks like they have URL Structure settings which lets me make the path anything I need. It's not an actual folder but seems like it'll work.

Place Bigcommerce store in Sub-Folder

Is it possible to have a BC store in a sub directory such as mydomain.com/shop/ ? If I move from interspire that will be critical to keep my url's the same.

Re: cs-cart the next best thing?

We had a detailed look at CS-Cart and especially the ability to set up multiple stores with a single back-end (not multi-vendor). Although initially promising lots of 'holes' started to appear in the coding and ultimately felt like it was hobbyist software. Since then we have commissioned a store t...

Re: BC storage limits seem Low

I'm sure I would gain some space with a clean up\migration. It's hard to tell how much though. I did a quick search on the bc forum and found lots of complaints about the low storage amount. Some were asking if they could host their images elsewhere. I believe they also use database size in the usag...
